Secretary General – Styrenics Circular Solutions
PlasticsEurope is one of the leading European trade associations with centers in Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris. We are networking with European and national plastics associations and have more than 100 member companies, producing over 90% of all polymers across the EU28 member states plus Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. The European plastics industry makes a significant contribution to the welfare in Europe by enabling innovation, creating quality of life to citizens and facilitating resource efficiency and climate protection.
Plastics have a crucial role to play in delivering a more sustainable future. Through their unique combination of properties, plastics already contribute to emissions reduction and more efficient use of resources across different sectors and everyday applications. However, challenges relating to littering and end-of-life options must be addressed, if the material is to achieve its fullest potential in a circular and resource efficient economy.
It is in this spirit of commitment to future generations, PlasticsEurope has decided to set a series of ambitious targets and initiatives up to 2030. The Styrenics producers (styrene monomer and polystyrene –based polymers) as members of PlasticsEurope are actively supporting these objectives. They have recently launched the “Styrenics Circular Solutions” platform (SCS), aiming at the development and implementation of technologies that recycle Polystyrene-based products back into their original applications. SCS will become an independent non-profit association based in Brussels.
