Mariya Gabriel, MEP
studied French and Bulgarian Philology at Plovdiv University Paisij
Hilendarski. In 2001 she obtained a certificated in political studies. She
finished her master degree in Comparative Politics and International Relations in
2003, same year that she also obtained her Ph.D. in Political Science from the
University of Bordeaux.
Between 2004 and
2009 she worked as a research assistant for several institutions such as the Institute
for Political Studies or Michel de Montaigne University 3. Her projects were
mainly focused on European decision-making processes. She embarked on her
political career in 2009 when she was elected Parliamentary Secretary to MEPs.
She is a Member or
the European Parliament since June of 2009.
