IntroductionPlastics materials and products play an important role in energy efficiency through insulation and lightweighting. In this regard, "Energy is our Future" has been launched on 13th November 2006 by PlasticsEurope, official Campaign Associate of the Sustainable Energy Europe initiative, in partnership with European Schoolnet (EUN).

The "Energy is our Future” project seeks to enhance and support energy education across the curriculum in schools in the European Union, as well as in Candidate and EFTA Countries. The aim is to bring students between 11 and 18 years to inspire an energy-efficient behaviour to wider society. In the first year some 50.000 schools throughout Europe participated.
FuturEnergia website offers teaching and learning resources as well as web-based activities which invites students to contribute with individual or collective stories on saving energy, monthly chats with senior representatives from the world of politics and business on energy-related topics and a poster competition.
