Eklyps

In Belgium, Bruno Philippe is running a programme that includes three educational kits, aimed at children from 6 to 14 years old. The scientific, biotechnology and plastics kits are designed to arouse the children’s interest in science.

These kits include:
  • The scientific kit
The "Discovering the Scientific Approach" kit is designed to arouse children's interest in science. Step by step, taking concrete examples from everyday life, you can lead your pupils as they follow in the footsteps of our great scientists. We are not trying to encourage our budding scientists to grasp complex concepts. We want them to learn the discipline of the scientific approach.

  • The biotechnology kit
To illustrate the theme of biotechnology, we have devised two small experiments for your pupils. One concerns making cheese with rennet derived from biotechnology (rather than from calf’s liver). The other illustrates the use of enzymes in detergents. You will have the opportunity to compare the effectiveness of detergents with and without enzymes.

  • The plastics kit
Experiments designed for secondary school students by teachers, presented in the form of laminated information sheets for photocopying. The starting point for this kit is the world that surrounds young people today. This is enthusiasm in kit form! The Plastics Kit contains 14 experiments about polymerisation and the properties of polymers including special polymers.
