“World's Plastics Associations Renew Commitments to Improve sustainability”

A plea for a pluralistic and open dialogue
Is the regulatory framework on risk in Europe harming or helping innovation? Is it possible to agree criteria for the use of scientific evidence in policy making? What do we mean by acceptable levels of risk? How can we address public mistrust in industry funded research?

At a press event held during the K2013, the world’s largest plastics fair, PlasticsEurope has presented the latest production, demand and waste management data. The world production volume has shown increase, since at global level the production has gone from 280 Mtonnes in 2011 to 288 Mtonnes in 2012, which signifies an increase of around 2.8%.

PlasticsEurope, the trade association representing European plastics manufacturers, welcomes the publication today of the 16th edition of the European Competitiveness Report, which addresses some pressing policy questions regarding industrial recovery and sustainable competitiveness in the EU.

The world of plastics will meet from 16 October to 23 October 2013 in Düsseldorf: K – the globally premier trade fair for plastics and rubber – is the industry’s meeting point for innovation, information and investment.
