Vice-president of the European Parliament to open IdentiPlast 2011 Conference in Madrid

The 9th edition of IdentiPlast 2011, Europe’s leading event on plastics waste management, will be officially opened by no less than Vice-President of the European Parliament Alejo Vidal Quadras. Along with representatives of plastics production, recycling and recovery industries from Europe and abroad, high profile guest speakers will include Soledad Blanco, Director of Sustainable Resources Management at DG Environment, MEP Oreste Rossi and Teresa Barres, Head of the General Sub-directorate on Waste Prevention of the Spanish Ministry of Environment, and Rural and Marine Affairs.

IdentiPlast 2011, taking place on October 3-4 in Madrid, is part of a vast waste management programme deployed by PlasticsEurope’s to stop plastics from being wasted in landfills. Industry representatives and policy makers will discuss the efficiency of the EU’s legislative system, in particular the waste framework and the landfill directives. Divided in nine different sessions, the conference will also cover collection systems, market drivers to maximise value of collected plastics waste, innovation and cutting-edge technologies in waste management processes, the development of a holistic approach for plastics waste management and, finally, speakers and attendees will find out about second life opportunities for plastics’ waste in its main applications.

Organised jointly by the international plastics value chain since 1997, IdentiPlast was born from the idea that plastic is too valuable to be thrown away. It consists in an exhibition, discussion panels and key note speeches on identification, sorting, collection, recycling and energy recovery technologies for plastic waste.

Hoping that you will join us for Identiplast 2011, we invite you to consult the full programme and register on our website. Press registration is free of charge.
