PlasticsEurope sponsors 2013 MEP Awards

For the second time, PlasticsEurope has been the overall sponsor of The Parliament Magazine’s MEP Awards, which, in its ninth edition, recognises Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) for their outstanding efforts and achievements in their respective policy areas. During the ceremony, held on 25 June in Brussels, 18 MEPs were awarded for their work.

PlasticsEurope was pleased to join the ceremony, which featured a video message by Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament and an emotional speech by the former Parliament President Jerzy Buzek, both acknowledging the important work MEPs do to secure innovation and competitiveness in and for Europe. In his opening address, Dr Wilfried Haensel, Executive Director, PlasticsEurope said that "the exceptional achievements recognised are of high relevance for the citizens of Europe, their well-being and future prosperity. This is of particular relevance in the current situation of crisis that Europe finds itself in.”

The event brought together some 400 guests, mostly from the European Parliament, but also Brussels-based stakeholders, who came together to recognise the commitment, effort and drive with which MEPs work to overcome today’s societal challenges.

To promote
"Plastics – the Wonder Material”, PlasticsEurope displayed plastic designer furniture, used by MEPs and their Assistants, and offered MEPs and guests the opportunity to drive a plastic-bodied electric Lotus Elise sports car, loaned by Evonik.
