Plastic Antibodies Fight Off Antigens

Microscopic plastic antibodies that mimic natural antibodies could fight everything from viral infections to allergens in the bloodstream.

Researchers have used molecular imprinting to stamp the shape of the antigen melittin, using plastic nanoparticles, just 1/50,000th the width of a human hair, which successfully functions in the bloodstream of animals to identify and fight a variety of antigens.
